Are you prepared to go the extra mile for Sir Alan?  This activity is based upon a challenge used in the early stages of The Apprentice TV program to highlight individuals who are prepared to do exactly that; go the extra mile for Sir Alan.  The event starts with the whole team being addressed in the boardroom by our very own Sir Alan Sugar.  Here the challenge will be laid out and teams of 6 or 7 people will be allocated.  Once the formalities are complete, the teams will be sent off to face a series of challenges, naturally with plenty of twists and turns!

Each team will receive an identical ‘Resource List’ (this is essentially a shopping list) which has been compiled in conjunction with a charity local to the area of your event, or specific to your organisation.  To accompany this, teams will also receive a shopping allowance of approximately £100.

Naturally the total cost of the entire shopping list will exceed the available budget and so the teams will need to think creatively and use all of their teams’ available skills in order to come out on top and buy all of the items on their list.

Some teams may spend time planning their purchases and their intended route to the final rendezvous, others may jump in head first and head out in search for their first deal straight away.  Our Sir Alan will pay close attention to the decisions made here as this provides an insight into the influencers within the group and the overall strategy that groups take.

The teams will have a set amount of time in which they must gather every item on the list; any additional items or un-spent money will be converted into bonus points at the end of the challenge.  Teams who use their ingenuity will be rewarded by saving time, money or both!

If you wish, teams can earn extra funds by completing innovative challenges which can be set up en route.  However, these challenges will not be made overt by our Sir Alan, and will only become evident through reading the instructions from cover to cover!

This challenge can take place either on foot, by taxi or in a chauffeured vehicle.  Once they have received the brief, the teams are free to leave the office or the venue you’ve chosen and start the challenge.

WHERE CAN THIS EVENT BE RUN?

This event is completely mobile and can be run anywhere in the United Kingdom.  The Apprentice Challenge is best run near a busy town or city.
