With the Great British Bake Off in full swing, now seemed like the perfect opportunity for a group from Ernst & Young (EY) to tackle the amazing baking team building event – TheBig Bake! This Great British Bake Off inspired team building activity is great fun and totally hands-on with participants being challenged to create a variety of amazing baked creations in true British Bake Off style!
The setting for the EY baking team building event was the beautiful Ashdown Park and Country Club. Located in East Sussex, this stunning venue offers a choice of meeting and event rooms as well as plenty of outdoor space for team building making it a great choice for your next corporate away day. Although we weren’t in a Great British Bake off style marquee, once all of the mobile cooking stations, ovens, utensils, and ingredients were set up, their Lady Brassey room looked just the part.
Once all of the participants had arrived and enjoyed their morning tea/coffee they were kitted out with the customary aprons and chefs hats before the head chef introduced them to the challenge that lay ahead. During this 3-hour baking team building event, teams were tasked with producing a savoury bake, a star bake, completing a technical bake, and of course, creating a spectacular showstopper!
Under the watchful eye of a professional chef, the participants got well and truly stuck into their challenges and created some outstanding items including homemade sausage rolls, sweet and savoury scones, beautifully tempered chocolate truffles, and a spectacular celebration cake. With any cookery event it is important to accommodate any specific dietary requirements and so we made sure that alternative bakes were available where required (we don’t want anyone to miss out on the fun)!
At the end of The Big Bake, all of the amazing items the teams had made were theirs to take home or back to the office the next day and enjoy with their family and colleagues.
